Subject: Local Notification: Potential planned protest
Dear all, As you may have seen, throughout this week there have been news reports referencing the system through which Harrods distributes service charge across our in-store restaurants.
In relation to these reports, there is a potential protest planned by a third party organisation (UVW) outside the store between 2pm and 6pm this Saturday 7th January.
Although we do not know the scale of the protest, I would like to remind all managers to ensure that their teams are fully aware of the planned activity, and to be extra vigilant of any suspicious activity on the day. If any employee suspects anything they should contact Security on Ext. 2999 or Ext 2244 immediately.
Managers:
In the event that employees are asked for comment by reporters, they should not provide any comments but instead pass on the details of our Corporate Affairs department on 07825 531658. Please cascade this number to your teams.
If you have queries from your team members, or they would like to know what to say to one of their customers who may query the protest activity, the following is Harrods’ response;
“The protest relates to the system of Service Charge Payments in the Harrods restaurants which we are working directly with our staff to resolve.”
If you have any further questions, please contact Corporate Affairs.
Regards,
Laura Brown
Retail Director
